Landing in a Foreign Land
Can you imagine escaping from your home country invaded by Russian communists, travelling to the other side of the world and landing in a foreign country with little money and few possessions. Peter Jirgen’s dad managed to flee Latvia in 1949 aboard the General Black. An adventure - for sure, but his struggle for survival, facing deceit, abuse and discrimination, made him as tough as the rock he crushed to make a living. Peter, the hero of the book inherited his father's toughness and resilience - a chip off the old block, you might say. He needed this kind of brutal strength to survive his mission into Latvia in 1980 to find his family. I loved writing his amazing adventure. Peter’s story of daring and courage will thrill you.
