Who Is That Man?
He’s sitting closest to the camera, pocket-handkerchief in place, looking intently at the stage. A few days earlier, a friendly German had picked him up hitchhiking outside Berlin. The German driver invited him to stay at his home for a few days while the hitchhiker explored Berlin. The kind German host was also a film director and … suddenly short of an actor. This chapter in the book could be called “The Accidental Actor.”
The photo, taken on the set of this major film, eventually appeared on the front page of the South Coast Register; evidence of just one of the many amazing moments in the adventures of Peter Jirgens.
