'Being a Jew After the Destruction of Gaza', is an extraordinary critique of the dominant communal life of Jewish people in USA, Israel and around the world.  Peter Beinart maintains it is dominated by persecution and victimhood. He further asserts that current Jewish religious traditions and attitudes have skewed their view of themselves as faithful keepers of the law and the prophets.  Jewish attitudes towards history, language and culture have been used to justify slaughter, deprivation and starvation of the Palestinian people.

As a devout contemporary Jew, Beinart pleads with his people to return to the Old Testament teaching, annunciations of faith, obedience to God and its need to recovery God's priorities of justice, mercy, hospitality towards strangers and neighbours if they are return to faithful living.

It is carefully argued and a compelling plea for reawakening of Jewish people so that they may indeed bring blessing to the remainder of the world.

This is an essential read for those who long for a factual historic perspective on Jewish community life, culture, peace and reconciliation between the Jews and their Palestinian neighbours. It is an urgent argument that pleads for Jewish cultural integrity and generosity.
