HAVE YOUR SAY

"A few weeks ago, the New York Times ran a piece on what gambling is doing to children and young people. The central point was simple: the gambling industry has made betting so normal, so embedded in sport and daily life, that many people don’t even see it as a problem yet. We’ve been saying the same thing here in Australia for years, and we have the numbers to prove it.
600,000 Australian teenagers aged 12 to 17 are gambling, spending $18 million every year. Sports betting among young men is growing at up to 40% annually. Families watching the FIFA World Cup saw gambling ads in every break. Kids are asking questions parents shouldn’t have to answer.
That’s why we’re building Parents for Gambling Reform. It’s a movement of mums, dads, and carers who want gambling out of sport and out of their children’s lives.
We’re just getting started, and we’d love you to be part of it from the beginning.
We’re asking parents to share what their kids are seeing: the ads, the questions, the moments that made you think “this has gone too far”. The more voices we gather, the harder this is to ignore
Have your say on protecting your kids from gambling."
